Island Players Update!
The Island Players is very pleased to announce that we are planning to open once again to our patrons in September, 2021!!
After over a year- long hiatus due to COVID-19, we will be off and running and starting our 73rd Season with the delightful play, “The Savannah Sipping Society”, in which four unique Southern women, all needing to escape the sameness of their day-to-day routines, are drawn together by fate and an impromptu happy hour. The play, written by Jones/Hope/Wooten, will run September 16-26, 2021.
Show time is 7:30 PM (note the new opening time) with Sunday Matinee time staying the same at 2:00 PM. Tickets at $25 each will be available Starting Tuesday, September 7th as will Season Tickets for all 5 plays at $110. More info will be available closer to performances. Auditions will be held on August 1st at 7:30 pm at the theater. Directing our first play is Mike Lusk, a long-time director and well known actor at Island Players.
The rest of our 73rd season is also filled with most intriguing plays. They are; “Same Time, Next Year”, Nov. 4-14, 2021; “Blithe Spirit”, January 6-23, 2022; “A Comedy of Tenors”, March 3 -20, 2022 and “The Psychic”, May 5-15, 2022.
Meanwhile, please put on your calendars two performances on July 23 by the Children’s Drama Camp which runs from July 12- 23. Each year Island Players partners with The AMI Center to offer dramatic learning experiences for kids. For info on camp sign-up, please contact Kathryn Palmer, Center Camp Director at 941 778-1908. Pam Hopkins, one of Island Players most esteemed actors and who is back by popular demand, will be directing the Drama Camp.
